Don't worry, it's not a silly question at all. Actually, it's a pretty common one. I'm not an expert, but as far as I know, you can monetize a channel for kids, but there are some restrictions and guidelines that you have to follow to make sure the content is appropriate and safe for children. You can check out YouTube's policies and guidelines for kids' content to get a better idea. I think it's great that you have an idea for a channel! Don't let the monetization issue discourage you. There are plenty of successful YouTube channels for kids that don't rely on ads for revenue.
