Is it usual to be inundated with sub for sub type stuff when youΓÇÖre a new channel? I have a constant letΓÇÖs be friends, I subbed to you please return the favour. New friend hope youΓÇÖll do the same. ItΓÇÖs really stressing me out. IΓÇÖm thinking I should just ignore them. There is so much of this on youtube I had no idea. All I want to do is have good content people for people to watch and this is the dark side I wasnΓÇÖt prepared for. I have certain keywords to stop it but they just find another way. I have also subbed to some people only to find thatΓÇÖs all they wanted then they Unsubbed from you and off to get the next victim. How do you small channels deal with it. ItΓÇÖs so hard to know who is a real friend and who isnΓÇÖt. Some tips to deal with it would be great. I already report and delete those I highly suspect however some are in a grey area. I suspect they are trying to get the numbers rather than doing this gig for my reasons. Frustrated YouTuber right here

I have honestly never seen much of it. Maybe its very community dependant, my channel is in brazilian portuguese, and I have received like, less than 10 comments like that over 3 years, 70 videos, thousands of comments. Really unusual experience I guess
YouΓÇÖre lucky it drives me crazy especially if itΓÇÖs porn sites they slip through every now and then

ItΓÇÖs mostly in Facebook groups where this happens, I promote myself in those groups too, but have to make it strictly no sub for sub, I lost subscribers because of this, and good, because those subs were nothing more than meaningless, IΓÇÖm up to 39 proper subscribers because IΓÇÖm putting out good enough content to make people want to subscribe, and IΓÇÖm interacting with my viewers wherever I can, so far do good for me.

I think if you want to succeed in social media you need to have a thick skin and never do anything and expecting something in return. When I check a new channel out I always leave a comment and/or like regardless how good the content is, my thinking is IΓÇÖm already there so I might as well leave a comment /like and if genuinely want to follow (not only bcs I like the channel, IΓÇÖll then sub). The fractions that people came back to me and returned the favors is minuscule, but I donΓÇÖt care... for me is their lost not mine. On the other hand if people sub to me without asking me to sub back (or not even hinting in anyway) I also always sub back regardless. So hang in there, your time will come, good luck

Yeah you are going to see that a lot. Gotta have thick skin and an understanding that those people just do not get it. You have a much larger perspective on how YouTube works, and they may never be able to understand it (many act like it is just another social media account with no real intentions of actually doing anything).

Just gonna have to be the parent in those conversations.

I'm noticing it becoming more and more common. Especially with these spam bots for "music" and other variations of "dubstep" and all sorts of "music" bot accounts.

I have "friend" (let's be friends) "Friends" "help" (help me grow) "subscribe" "check" (check out my channel) "hug" "dance" etc because now people go "hug for hug" and other odd variations to get past filters. But my banned words list gets longer and longer.

Also be sure to block all urls. That helps as well.

It's always been an issue, and no doubt will always be an issue, so the main this is to try and be ahead of the bots, instead of playing catch up and clean up.

Yep I donΓÇÖt want sub for sub as I feel it will hurt my channel rather that help it. Some that have subbed are people I would watch so I do. But I think itΓÇÖs the sub scammers that are mostly annoying they are clearly recruiting people for others to ask sub for sub. I was just so unaware at how big this problem was lol. I view I just cannot understand the mentality really. It makes no sense to do it. Just people wanting to be big you tubers and not putting in any real effort. I think the ones making any money from this type of thing are doing it at the expense of those with big dreams. Kinda sad really. Anyway I will chug along

Yes IΓÇÖll often sub to people I will watch if they have subbed to me and most of them donΓÇÖt ask me to

Thankyou I havent had a hug for hug one yet lol IΓÇÖm sure it will happen. TheyΓÇÖre getting clever lol. The worst one are I have subbed to you please sub back and they clearly havenΓÇÖt anyway as your sub count hasnΓÇÖt changed. I just give the sub for sub people a few days before responding they usually have taken their business elsewhere. I guess you learn to be savvy lol

I just have "sub" and "subbed" as banned words so I never have to worry about them int he first place :p but yeah, plenty say "I've been subscribed fo x amount of time" and you know they haven't :p

Trivial matters really though.

As expected, no reply after I laid it down for a sub for sub scammer, IΓÇÖm protecting my channel no matter what, and IΓÇÖm always encouraging other serious creators to do the same, if theyΓÇÖre not already doing so!

ThatΓÇÖs great. I just write thanks for supporting my channel IΓÇÖll. Ensure to check out your channel at my next convenience. I do but if I donΓÇÖt like the content or would watch it. I donΓÇÖt subscribe. Often they then They will unsub which is fine with me as I would rather my subscribers to watch my stuff

Yes it a spam and it just destory your channel.
First they will unsub you after some time
secondly they will not watch your uploaded videos recommended by YouTube which will reduce YouTube algorithm.
so get genuine subscribers

My recommendation is to let the scammers go, let them unsubscribe, as itΓÇÖs always said, if the subscriber numbers go up but not the views and watch minutes, thatΓÇÖs a red flag in itself, and can only be caused by this whole sub for sub scam, IΓÇÖm not letting anything or anyone ruin my channel, IΓÇÖm somewhat struggling but also getting the content on there for all to watch, but if itΓÇÖs not being watched, YouTube will see it as not serious enough and wonΓÇÖt promote my content, so yeah IΓÇÖm gonna be hard on sub for sub scammers!

I agree. I don't think there is any point in sub for a sub if the subscribers are not truly interested in your channel and its contents. While I am here I will be subscribing -especially to small youtube channels but I won't subscribe till I watch their videos and then decide if I like the contents and will watch their contents later and be loyal. I will also engage and leave a comment. Another thing I do for genuine support is if I get a subscriber and they have a channel I click on it to find out if I like what they do and will repeat the same as above. Otherwise, I won't subscribe back. We all want subscribers at least I want/need them but quality really does beat quantity at the end of the day.
By the way sorry you have to move because of the reason you stated.

I just ignore any comments regarding sub for sub and delete them. But I guess I could go the route like @Zita and just put in a comment of thanks and I'll check out your channel at my earliest convenience -- that at keeps the comment count up.

They never sub you in first place and even if they do they will never watch your content so its a big NO to sub for sub spam.
