If you skip an advert then the creator does not get paid as the advertiser doesn't pay for skipped Ads. Hope this helps!!

Slight clarification on this, you have to watch 30 seconds of the ad for the creator to get paid.

This is correct, but banner ads show up, and they get for that. However the most money a creator can earn is if you click that ad haha, but don't abuse this because that counts as invalid click activity.
