I just started posting stuff seriously these 2 months, I have a problem is that I scared look into the comments.
I always have a thoughts that someone will leave me a negative comments, but I know I have to reply every one of them.

I understand if I am posting rubbish, having negative comments is understanable, but most of my shorts/videos took me a long time to practice and edit. A 30 second recording, took me weeks to practice and hours of editing.
It is a shock when someone just drop by and give you a thumb down and say something bad to you.

How do you mentally deal with these comments and dislikes? I am still new and not sure how to mange it mentally.

I am not giving up for sure, but I need a way to feel "nothing", not sure how to explain this in English. but you know what I mean..

You just keep doing you. You don't have to reply to everyone - you have the power to defend, ignore, or block the user. With that said, negative comments means someone also took the time to view your video and decided that it was worth their time to say something negative because it made them feel that way; you can use that to fuel your drive to become a better content creator. Is it fair that you spent hours working on something you feel special just to have someone who only took few seconds to review your video? No but that is the nature of being in the media business.

Have you ever watched a movie or played a video game that was so awful that you had to say something negative about it to your buddy or to the online community? Well guess what? A team of people dedicated months maybe years of their lives making that while you only spent a fraction of that time to criticize it. It hurts, yes, but you must overcome this fear and make it worth your time to succeed in this. I had plenty of negative comments on my channel and I even talk about it in one of my videos where I explain the negative sides of being a Youtuber. The bigger you get, more trolls you gain and it doesn't get any easier but you learn to grow thicker skin as you work on it for longer.

YouTube does not show you the dislikes unless you go specifically looking for them - I do not bother looking for them.
How I deal with negative comments will depend on their intent. If someone is being polite, but disagrees with me, no worries.
Trolls and name calling will get an immediate block. I simply do not have time to deal with negative people. I have no problem with polite disagreements, but if they are just being a jerk, they can take it somewhere else. I am trying to build a community, and they are trying to tear down community. I do not owe them a response, and do not have to let them comment on my videos.

Here is how you handle it. Every time someone posts a negative comment, responded with this.

"Thank you so much for supporting me and promoting my channel by commenting on my videos. I really appreciate your support for me and my content. Please keep commenting as each comment you make, negative or positive, is extremely beneficial for my channel."

Do this each and every time someone makes a negative comment. 99% of the time they will delete their comment or never respond or comment again.

Dealing with negative comments and dislikes on YouTube can be challenging, but here are some tips to help you cope:

  1. Don't take it personally: Remember that negative comments and dislikes are not a reflection of your worth as a person or content creator.
  2. Analyze the feedback: Take a step back and objectively analyze the feedback to see if there is an opportunity for improvement or if the comment is simply unconstructive criticism.
  3. Respond appropriately: If you choose to respond, do so professionally and respectfully. Address any valid criticisms and try to de-escalate any negative exchanges.
  4. Focus on positive engagement: Instead of dwelling on negative comments, focus on engaging with viewers who leave positive feedback and support your content.
  5. Consider disabling comments or moderating them: If the negative comments are overwhelming or harmful, you may want to consider disabling comments or moderating them to ensure a more positive environment for your audience.
Remember, everyone experiences negative comments and dislikes on YouTube at some point. It's important to have a plan in place to manage them effectively and not let them discourage you from creating and sharing your content.

Why stop at copying/pasting just 5 tips -- ChatGPT query actually returned exactly the same 5 word-for-word tips (and 5 more) when asked that question. Perhaps add a personal touch to it?

100% - most people don't realise that aspect of comments - pos or neg - they all help!

Unless they're going the political, religeous, or racial way, I ALWAYS respond to pos/neg comments. In case of the latter, I apologise for the lesser quality of the video, not being in-depth enough, or whatever they complain about, and ask them how I could have done it better as I'm still learning.

Why?

(1) it defuses the person's neg comments or vibe and shows you're willing to adapt and learn;

(2) it shows my community that I'm able to take criticism, happy to discuss, and hear what they have to say, as more ppl will actually reach out and ask questions/post feedback, knowing you won't hit them back hard, but are open-minded;

(3) back to what was mentioned just now, it's yet another comment likely to come back and start some discussion/engagement which is always better from a YouTube point of view

My 2 cents.

Since my channel is a How To DIY channel, most negative comments are, "You forgot to do this moron" or "You didn't cover it in detail", or "You went into too much detail". I even have people complain about how I pronounce a word, or get furious because I have background music during a lengthy timelapse work sequence, and dumb stuff like that.

I have taken a vow of positivity on my channel, even though it is completely against my nature. :joy::laughing: I just don't respond negatively. I use Tubebuddy canned responses in most cases. Like this

I have about 20 canned responses that cover just about everything except unique questions. If a comment has vulgarity or verbal insults, I just delete it. Ever since I have switched to the Positive only model for managing comments, I get 99% positive comments.

Quite interesting - I'll need to have a look into that canned responses strategy as well!

"You didn't cover this" or "You forgot to mention that" are perfect examples as I mentioned above how I jump onto those and respond with humility & kindness - your positivity approach. Those ppl will be the first ones to flip 180-degrees and become hardc0re followers once you've disarmed them with your kind responses. Love it!
