I'm currently experimenting on what I can do with the Community tab. I'd like to know if I shoutout another YouTuber's handle will they know it? Seems like the idea would be for them to give your channel a shoutout in exchange. How would they know? Is it something that you'd typically set up with them ahead of time?

I've only been mentioned in the description box for a video, but I imagine for a community post it would work the same way; the creator would get a notification and can always refer to the mention from their creator studio. Just in case you (or someone who views this thread) don't know, you can access any source your channel has been mentioned in at Creator Studio > Comments > Mentions.

Just to make sure, I searched online and saw this documentation straight from Google Support:

As far as setting up a shoutout ahead of time, I haven't done this so I don't have any practical advice to give; however, I'd think that coming to an agreement with the channel beforehand would be the best way to approach this. You could email them, or, more comfortably, connect with them on social media.
