I am wondering what is a good CTR?
when should I start tweaking the title and thumbnail, most of my videos are about 5% CTR is that good? or should I look to improve this? ?

The CTR of an "average" video is 5% or so I've heard. I think you always want to shoot for a better CTR than last time, so I would change my title and thumbnail periodically to see which results in a higher CTR (this takes a lot of work manually, but the TubeBuddy AB testing feature does this as well).

Personally, I think that if the CTR of one of your most recent videos is 5% and that's the average CTR for your channel, you need to start focusing on making more clickable content. So I say improve it, because all you can do as a content creator is continue to improve, even if you find your content to be successful.

" Half of all channels and videos on YouTube have an impressions CTR that can range between 2% and 10%."

But I think "Average percentage viewed" is more important. You can always improve CTR through better SEO but once they start playing the video it's all about apv from that point on.

There isn't really a good standard for CTR. It can vary by niche, channel size and the number of impressions you are getting. It is true that the 'average' is between 2%-8% but that is actually a very wide margin. Aim for 10% or higher and understand that the bigger you get the more this number is going to drop. As Tiffany said the best advice is that you try to improve your CTR with every video regardless of the number. You should always be trying to improve both your thumbnails as well as your titles.
