I see some youtuber their make new channel for short from their main channel.
Will short videos affect the performance of long duration videos on their channel, so they create a special channel for their short videos, or do short videos not affect the performance of the main video? and what do you have to do as a new YouTuber, do you have to make a special channel only for shorts?

Maybe they are investing more resources into shorts due to the incoming monetization for shorts and they want to isolate all the seo / advertising for easy data analysis.

I think they are 2 different mindsets and I don't think one affects the other too much. Some people are just going to watch shorts, others will watch longer play. Sure your most interested viewers might watch both from time to time. I think a good strategy for some channels is to have a short for every long, and basically the short introduces the long video. I personally treat shorts/longs on one of my channels as two different markets. I'll make my shorts very "tik tok" like with brash sound, music, graphics, animation, etc, to get their attention quickly and my long plays a bit less in your face...so to speak.

...and what do you have to do as a new YouTuber, do you have to make a special channel only for shorts?
As you already know, since you have shorts and long plays videos on your channel, the answer is no.

This happened when YouTube went all-in with livestreams as well. The prevailing idea with creating separate channels for Shorts and/or Livestreams was because they are treated the same as regular videos despite receiving wildly different performance metrics than regular VOD's. So if you compare Shorts and livestreams to regular videos they appear to be very poor performing and people don't want that dragging down their channel recommendations. Because of this people started creating these on separate channels so that they didn't have an impact on the performance of their other videos.

But there really is no such thing as channel recommendations. YouTube recommends videos. And now that YouTube has tied VOD (regular video) recommendations to Shorts videos there is actually a lot more value in posting them to your regular channel than there originally was.

Also FYI another thing that was a focal point when this was an issue with livestreams was that creators did not want impressions being taken away from their regular videos by a livestream that was not going to be as valuable after it was no longer live. The resolution to this is of course to make your livestream Private or Unlisted after it is no longer live. But the other thing you can do is simply livestream before you post your regular videos. The difference is minimal... but there is a small difference and you really do want those fresh impressions to go to a video with a greater chance for long-term success.

Thanks you so much for your answer, in Indonesia there are several channels that recommend separating short channels and long videos , they say if you combain short with long videos in one channel thats makes you channel algoritma broken, and if you short have a many views so your long videos gonna don't have a much views

I know why. Because I also have a channel for shorts. Because if you have a side channel you upload shorts daily. It will double up your profit from youtube and also making real channel a bit clean.

Probably due to new monetization for shorts. You can have two channels so you can get both of them monetized in their own way or to check which one works better?
