Let me start by saying I am very new to the creator side of youtube and am willing to admit I know nothing about it. I want to create content and become a daily YouTuber at some point, however, I am unsure what to do. I am a full-time Automotive Technician and love what I do I thought about making an automotive channel kind of vlogging my daily life as a mechanic but I know there are a lot of those already. I'm also very tech savvy and love to game and do things on the computer and internet, so that's kind of an option too. Please help any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I always recommend everyone making content they enjoy that also has an audience interested in that content. Automotive mechanics is definitely a genre that has a decent audience. While there are many YouTube channels dedicated to this kind of content that shouldn't stop new creators from making content in the same genre. Your goal should be to simply create good content for an existing audience you're trying to engage. To differentiate yourself and stand out you'll need to find your own style, something that makes you watchable, enjoyable, entertaining.

You can try clever jumpcuts, comedy, detailed info on the work you're doing with cool animated text on the screen and even multiple or different camera angles. There are all kinds of things you can do to make your content unique and entertaining. Look at other content creators in this genre and see how they make their content and learn from them. Not imitate or copy but simply learn.

Just remember one thing. Make sure you know who your audience is, make your content for that audience, focus on simply making good content, not perfect, just good content, and above all else, have patience because YouTube is a marathon, not a sprint. It will take time to grow.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response and input, I agree it shouldn't stop me from creating automotive content because there are others out there doing the same thing. It just means I will need to work harder and like you said make my content stand out from others, again thank you for the help!

You should always do something of your interest or else you cannot pursue it for a long time. If you are an Automotive Technician then you should try and do something innovative within your field. You have lots of option within your field like "how to do something specific in your field" which goes in teaching direction or can share how challenging or interesting your work is, everyday work routine, experience with customers, feedback for you work, potential jobs within your fields and so on. Hope you find something good,. All the best!

The biggest tip I can give you from my own limited early success and failures the past few months is.... stick to one topic and do it well.
