Hi guys, I'm planning to try out the Davinci Resolve 18 on a new computer I'm getting. I notice that they have these special keyboards and control panels they are also selling. Are these necessary or can the software be operated without these? By the way, HP with an AMD Rysen 7. 16GB memory. Just trying to look for the best editing software for it right now.

You don't need those pieces of hardware, they are geared more towards professionals who can get meaningful ROI out of it. I'm sure they work well, but they are also very expensive. Everything can be done with keyboard and mouse.

The fullsize black magic editor keyboard is crazy expensive unless you are a fulltime editor making a living from it. There are a ton of aftermarket tools available if you really want a control surface. I have enjoyed the "Shuttle Pro v2" from Contour personally.
