YouTube Question Reuse of public domain audio and monetization

Hey buddies!

Does anyone know if it causes demonetization reusing public domain audio, if we add or own thumbnail/still or video? Would just a thumbnail/still that stays the entire video be unique enough to not get a monetization strike?

Just confused on where the policy is at with the new changes, and what people have heard or seen on what really happens.

Also, if you get a monetization strike on a video due to reuse, does that shut down monetization on your entire channel?

Thanks.

You are free to use public domain audio/video without any issues. The problem that you will come across is that other people may take an audio/video clip from a copyright-protected source and put that into their video which they list as creative-commons (or public use, same thing). If you use their audio/video you will get the claim/strike.

If you get a monetization strike for reuse it only affects that video. However, if you get several of these it can affect the monetization and eventually even the termination of your channel.
