Hi all, I was thinking of adding reaction videos to my channel. Would like to ask if there are tips that you can give me on how to avoid copyright issues with my content. How do you guys escape the copyright police with trailer reactions or tv series/movie/music videos reactions?

I am not an expert on this by any means, but I have recently tried a reaction video that I was able to get by without a copyright claim. Here are the points I tried to follow:

1. Try to gain permission from the owner of the content
2. If #1 cannot be achieved, then ensure that your reaction to the content is more visible or louder than the content it self
3. Roll the dice and see what triggers a copyright flag

In the end, copyright infringement is different from country to country. So be sure to read up on it so YT doesn't delete or demonetize your channel.

Thanks, appreciate it man. Will definitely look into it. :)

You can not avoid them, you must be ready to deal with them. You will need to familiarize yourself with the Fair Use Doctrine. These are the rules that you must follow in order to legally use someone else's content. But these rules are not enforced on YouTube. YT allows the copyright owner to claim/strike your video regardless of Fair Use. When this happens you can appeal and if denied you can use Fair Use to fight that decision in court. That is how this system works.

Expect this to be a pain... and expect the majority of your strikes/claims to happen right when you start becoming successful and making money. They won't get you right away, they may wait years.

Thanks man, I'll keep that in mind. :)

I have a channel teaching filmmaking and I do movie reviews "mostly sci-fi such like Star Wars, Avengers, MCU, etc" and I write a video script for the review and I make clips from the movie, or series, relating to what I'm talking about in that particular sentence and that's how the whole movie review is made.

But this would require you to be familiar with doing that such as editing video, making clips, piecing them together, adding some flare, etc. But no one ever said managing and running a YouTube channel was going to be easy. Unless you watched tutorials on YouTube. LOL

Cool man. Will check your channel out. Mine is all about toy collecting and unboxing new toys especially ones that we sell on our online toy shop. :)

The channel I'm talking about is "ThePoorFilmmaker" it's not the one that's like in my signature here. I have 10 channels so that's why I'm letting you know in case you want to see that channel particularly.
