What things have people done to help promote there channels?

I've continue creating high quality content, promoting in appropriate places like here, reddit etc.
Along with continuing to optimized my SEO and just perceiving with what I'm doing cause people do come.

The #1 thing for me was to have a back log of hundreds of videos. Each will generate views over long periods of time.
