Hi,
I wonder if anyone else has suffered the same problem, or whether its unique to me.

I've been running my channel since April 2021, and its been doing pretty well, with a nice increase in viewership, watch hours and subscribers, in fact if it had kept growing in the way it had, I was on target to achieve 1,000 subscribers by May next year and 4,000 watch hours way before that. However note I'm saying all this in the past tense.

Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, my viewership collapsed on the 26th of November and has been disastrous ever since - I mean a drop of 80% ! I honestly can't see why, except Youtube appears to have completely stopped promoting my videos.

I suppose my question is has this occurred to anyone else since the 26th, has it happened to anyone in the past, but more importantly is there anything I can do ?

Thanks in anticipation.

It's normal to get times where you plateau and it affects what you think the outcome of what you projected to happen. Just continue on with creating content and you'll get back on track.

Just so you know, it is Thanksgiving Weekend around the 26th (normally last weekend of November) so if your traffic comes from the USA, then you may find a significant drop in views as people spend time travelling, being with family and eating excessively.
I notice this trend every year with my own websites (and YT channels).
Another large drop in views comes just before Christmas until the second week of January (of course depending on the type of channel and its content).

Just speaking for myself, my views have generally plateaued but I blame myself for the 2-week break I took. But I do agree @Woodward that the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is a big deal in the U.S. It could be contributory to a temporary slump in viewership.

If you are wondering why YT might not be recommending your videos, I would take a critical eye at your videos. Perhaps you can review your thumbnails? It seems a bit hard to read. Maybe revisit some of your titles? Or you can wait another week to see if there is a bounceback.

I was flying in November, second highest view month ever, thinking I might just make 1K subs before the end of the year. Going into December I was very excited as one of the games I cover that draws big views finally got its release. I'm currently posting more content than usual to cover this release but my views are actually down! Was averaging 400 in Nov currently averaging 300 in Dec. Views down 80% on last week.
