I'm new to YouTube and this forum. I want to star a channel to breakdown / analyze videos posted by major news networks like CNN, BBC … I'm concerned about copyright consequences. What is the correct procedure I have to follow to rightfully use such videos?

If you are in the U.S., you will want to read up on the concept of "fair use". There are a few YT videos that discuss when and how you can use those types of clips. Generally, you are allowed to use if you educate about it, comment on it , quote it, criticize it, or transform the use of the material. "Meme" uses are generally acceptable also.

There is no one recipe to using such clips because people use it differently. However, you should be prepared to defend it if someone complains.

I myself have already dipped my toes into using clips for "fair use" purposes.
