YouTube Help How to find out what our niche is looking for in terms of searches?

Hi

What's the best way to zero in on what our niche audience is looking for in terms of searches on YT? When I type in the YT search field, it gives you examples, but it's usually pretty generic, same thing with Google trends. TB gives you example searches, but with weighted scores, everything is really low... unweighted is usually better results. We're small and just wondering what the best route is.

Thank you

For starters you aren't really looking for a niche audience. You are providing a niche experience, but your audience is going to be varied and into multiple things. You are just going to be one of the many things that they are interested in watching, and you become interesting by providing a niche experience for them.

In order to zero in on your own niche you need to look at a couple of things. What are you good at? What is something that you can provide experience doing or are willing to share being a total noob at as you grow yourself. You need a niche that you can confidently say you are physically able to make 1,000 videos about. Also worth considering is the time you have to film. If you niche requires you to travel often and it interferes with your work schedule it may not be the most desirable niche for you. Same goes for CPM considerations... if making money is important you may want to consider your demographics and aim for a niche that puts you in front of a higher-earning audience (that 35-60 group with disposable income).

All things to consider, though you do not necessarily have to decide at once. You can very easily spend your first 25-100 videos just figuring out where you belong and how you fit into your niche. That is really the best time/way to figure things out. Get an idea of your direction and start filming... the videos will eventually guide you in the direction you need to go.

What @Stanley Orchard said is gold. Long ago before the Earth cooled, just kidding! When I first started on YouTube in 2014, no one knew any of this. The only thing anyone knew was to crank out content. The game has changed a lot since then. On the one hand new creators feel a mountain of things to learn. On the other hand the path has already been laid. This makes things much simpler and easier despite heightened competition.

In the end cranking out content is still the bedrock of YouTube.

We're a medium sized church in Canada and we're just trying to figure out the right keywords to target that are large enough that people search for, but not that big that we'd be buried down the list.

We're producing several videos a week, thanks for your replies and help!
