Just when I thought YT could not get any more crazier about their obsession with shorts, I see a new little addition to the advanced setting on the video upload page that YT has turned ON by default. NO, I am not joking. YT is giving our Long Form content away to Shorts creators. They have hidden this setting in the advanced options page, that a lot of people never see.

YT has given Shorts creators to use our content without even notifying us that they are doing it. Be careful guys. YT is not on your side if you are a long form content creator. If you value your content, make sure you uncheck this box. I work hard ot make my own original content, and I do not appreciate YT giving it away to anyone.

Can you explain this better? What exactly does shorts sampling mean? From the sound of it, it doesn't seem great.

It means that unless you go into your advanced options and uncheck the box that YT auto-checked for you, Shorts creators can use any part of your video to make content for their channel without incurring a copyright strike. Essentially, YT has given Shorts creators carte blanche permission to use your content to make their Shorts. It means that if they do, YT will not notify you that someone has copied your content. YT is now giving your content to anyone who wants to create Shorts with.

I am pretty sure this just came out in the last two weeks because I did not see it there last week. I have not seen a Creator Update about the new feature, so I am pretty sure that YT is hoping no one will notice it for a while. But I did and I am trying to get the word out.

I don't have that setting under my Advanced settings? I have one with similar wording, but it talk about clips and not shorts and from what I understand about clips it's just them sharing my content in social media, not making their own videos with my content as a part of that video.

They have been talking about shorts sampling on the Creator Insiders channel (an official YT channel) for a long time. If you are not subscribed to them... you should be.

Here is a vid they did back in June talking about opting out. So far it looks like you can bulk opt-out, but not default opt-out. It really should be an opt-in, not an opt-out. The way they talk about it makes it sound like it is just audio sampling?

you are right, make sure to uncheck if your video does not want to be used as a short video by others. Thank you for the information
