Hi, i have just bought SONY ZV-1 and Soft box lighting for better video quality

I kinda hope for people's opinion does my colour and lighting looks good, or its bad?
Still trying to figure if darker background is better, or with some back light

Would love to hear your opinions
Thanks

For us, darker background looks better. Although it seems with the right side version, you will need more front light

Sorry I missed this a while back. I actually didn't publish to YouTube for like 2 months because it got so busy at the start of the school year. I'm back at it now!

@xtamsia both are a great start!

But yes the blue background adds contrast and visual interest. The only thing is that the video frame with blue is a bit too dark. You either need a fill light on the other side of your face, or even cheaper a "white foam board" to use as a bounce (reflects a little light from your keylight on the other side of your face). The white foam board can often be found locally at dollar stores or office supply stores for pretty cheap.

If you aren't sure how to do this, just search YouTube for "foam board fill light" or something like that.

I know a lot of people who have a cinematographer eye prefer some darkness with angle lighting to create some interesting shadow effects.

I am not quite that sophisticated as a viewer. I am more straight forward. I prefer some brightness and I want to be able to see the person and background well. I am not opposed to back lighting. I think they are cool but the room seems too dark for me. I prefer a brighter room than both of your examples.
