YouTube Help How to edit a short that was made in the shorts app?

So I have searched and searched but all I find is how to edit a video to make a short. I have two shorts that I made in the YouTube Shorts app and want to edit them. There is a lot about how it is illegal to download YouTube videos but they are my videos. One video I uploaded while logged into the wrong account. I don't care about views and I don't want to post the same video twice. I just want to download it in high resolution, delete it from the wrong channel and upload it to the right channel. I own both channels. I did manage to get a download but it was not very high resolution so I didn't want to post it.

The second video scheduled to become public tomorrow, I can change that, there is a small section that I want to edit before it gets posted.

Do you have backup copies of the vids? You can download your own vids legally, in Studio, but the quality pretty much sucks. I just downloaded my latest vid and it is a 99Mb file. I checked by backup drive and it is a 728Mb file... I used the Download option is Studio.

I used an "alternative" download means and it was 240 Mb. Better, but still not good quality. I have not seen a way to get a good HD quality copy back from YT. That is why I keep duplicate copies of my backup drive.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. How can I make a backup with the Shorts app?

I am confused. You keep referring to the "Shorts app". But I just checked on Google Play, there is no standalone Shorts App. There is the YouTube app which contain a "Shorts" area. Is that what you are referring to?

Also, it appears you are focused on doing most of the work from your phone. If that is the case, you will be disappointed. I could be wrong but there may be some features that do not exist within the app version of Youtube or YT Studio Creator such as downloading the video file. As @Tito Tim indicated, it can be done through YT Studio Creator but it does seem to require a laptop or desktop computer. I don't think you can access that through a mobile device. I tried to find a way just now but didn't see any way around it even with running a mobile browser in desktop mode.

You have pointed out one issue of doing YT shorts with the app. There may not be a project edit file. I definitely see why you would want a master file of what you uploaded. I would too for posterity and archive purposes.

I am not going to say I won't ever do a Short through an app. But for now, I use Filmora X to also edit my vertical videos which include a YT short.
