Title of thread: Need Detailed review
Self review: I started my channel on Hair Care. So basically i was educated people about hair. But my views are not high. Even when I do the same videos as others. Now I decided to transition my videos and make Finance videos because is my other passion. I am thinking on may be doing both? But I notice that every time i upload a video, my views are low and when is not about hair, my views are very low. What should I improved? what am i doing wrong? is it my voice? audio? thumbnails? title? English is not my first language. So Im very open to hear everything you guys have to say. Have been on youtube for 7 years and still struggling with my views. Most of my audience are 25 -35, 35-45 and 50 women.

I looked through your channel and watched several of your videos. You have your channel listed and your intro video talks about natural hair. Then you have videos on making money. It looks like the ones focused on hair, specifically around hair products seem to do well. I suspect your recent "make money" videos are going to confuse your subscribers.

You have a lot of subs and a lot of views. You should be using your analytics data to determine who your audience is and what they are interested in and focus on that content type.

What's causing you to change your focus?

Ok - first time here, so not an expert on YouTube nor an expert on hair, but here are my thoughts.

You say you don't have a lot of views - obviously you are talking relatively to others in the hair video field, as I see 17.1M views!! So to be that is good. It would help if you maybe link to a few competitors so we can see the difference you are seeing. Likewise you have 144k subs - again for me that is good. So well done , even if you think that is not good for you.

Your header tells me nothing about what you're about - if it said Hair and money that would be better - but I agree with comments above i.e. why are you switching and if you do - there is no clear link. THe link might be as simple as "My two fav things" but state that.

I think your watermark is had to see and distracting.

I don't like the format of the description - I'd put the hastags way down at the bottom - because there are displayed right up top already so you're just duplicating them.

Like that you use chapters.

Would like to see a longer description - both for me and for SEO.

Having a look at some videos eg Rice Water - it took me to over 1m in to the video to find out your are making something for your hair and not a drink. Maybe anyone who knows anything about hair knows what you are talking about BUT I'd make it clear in the title and description and maybe spell it out for idiots like me.

Looking at your July27 money video. It's clear you put a lot in, well done. But it's the small things. I like you added bullet points, but the no.2 bullet sits over your face. I would have made it a two liner and maybe chosen a friendly font - and keep to one font - you have a thin one at start and a thick one later. You have good use of cut-away to photo's but you don't crop out the image so it fills the screen i.e. there are black bars at the sides. Many of the terms you mentioned are not in your tags S&P 500, mutual fund, money investment strategies etc.

Your channel keywords are all now for money.

Watching the blue therapy video - you have a black bar on the left side? Again not hair or money.

Not sure how to say this - there is and isn't a consistency to the thumbs. You're in many of them, but the mix of fonts and sizes of text loses me. And it would be nice to have a clear visual difference between the money and hair thumbs.

Increase you credit score video - you're lower thirds intos you as a hair specialist - which is what you are, but why then talk about money? Change the lower thirds for these ones. And there is no description. Did not like the hair product advert in middle of your money video!! You mention Experion and some other tools and say they are the best without saying why you think they are better than others. Some good advice but not clear advice at all times.

Hope some of that is useful.

You should be using your analytics data to determine who your audience is and what they are interested in and focus on that content type.

Can you expand on that, if not for her for me.

e.g. if she looks at her most popular video it's about making rice water and has 4.4m views. BUT it's done now!! I'm no expert on hair, but I'm guessing there is just so much you can say about making rice water and I think she has said it.

Sure. With analytics, you can see what videos Subscribers watch. You can see How long subs watch. You can see which videos are driving subs. You can look at your retention metrics to see who is coming back. The videos that are high in those aspects are ones your subs and audience are interested in.

I really appreciate your detail review.
I want to change to money because I am a business person. Hair was for fun, eventhough I did a lot of research and course .
And I notice my audience want something I dont want to do... I do not want to lie to them and do like other youtubers in the hair community. There is no magic products to grow hair...
Both of my time are into making money and i wanted to share that with others. that's why...

thank you so much.. will work on your review

I know and appreciate that - but keeping with the ladies channel. We see that rice water was a big hit. (I'm only talking from the point of view it got 4.4m, but lets run with the idea that there was good audience retention and high subs as a result) But it's done now! She's talked about rice water!
Not trying to start an argument, looking to see if there is advice beyond the high level advice that so many people are making YouTube videos about. "see what's doing well and do more of it" - that is easy and obvious to say.

So we see Rice water is good for your hair. So that would imply make more videos about hair products - she has made other video about products that are good for your hair- but they did not rank as high.

Let caveat this by saying that it depends on how you want to monetize.

If you develop an audience that expects one thing, then YouTube will monetize your audience around that thing. If you change what you are targeting, then it changes your audience and thus is impacts your monetization.

So to answer your question directly, you pick a niche and stay within that niche My feedback was to point out that the OP went from a channel about hair and hair care to a channel about making money. I think we would agree that those are very different niches and attract very different audiences.

OP seems to have done well with a few videos on natural, homemade hair care treatments. She has also done well with "how to style" type videos. Those seem like great topics to expand on. But jumping to "how to make money" is completely outside of previous videos and is very unlikely to appeal to her channel's current audience. This is borne out by the views on those videos.

Got it, thanks.
