Title of thread: Would like to know your feedback on my latest foodie video!
Self review: I think it was alright so far. There is some slight improvement when it comes to the editing parts and maybe the audio in comparison to my first video. However, I also think there is some issue such as certain unnecessary long clips, the use of repetitive words and not asking someone to share, subscribe and like hence I don't see a considerable gain on my subscribers upon posting the video. I only got like 2 new subscribers lol but that is fine. The length of the video might be an issue to some especially I am new and some viewers might not want to sit through the end. Nevertheless this is an experimental video only aim toward certain niche audience mainly my country.

I think the sound and general editing quality looked good. That said, it is way too long. I found myself skipping ahead. The intro is long (11 seconds) and the setup takes a lot of time. You could almost get 3 videos out of this one.

There is a saying in screenwriting/filmmaking which is "you want to enter a scene too late and leave too early". I say that because generally you are long to get into the scene (too much setup) and stay with it too long.

If you want to see someone who does a great job with this type of video, check out "The Food Ranger" channel. His pacing for these types of videos is a really good example of getting to the point and getting in and out effectively without losing the important parts of the video.

Yeah I agree, it kinda long I would say though it a 3 days food exploration covering from morning till night and also it easier for me to share my content to people without sending 3 links which might annoy some people so I thought it better for me to compile all of them in a single video. Maybe I do need to get rid of the intro for my future video.

When you mention about this "you are long to get into the scene (too much setup) and stay with it too long", is it the part before I start showing the food?

Yeah I do watch his content before. I really enjoy his foodie content. Will take some point from him if I happen to make another foodie video.

Hi there,

The first thing I notice is: wow 24+ minutes for a video, which is pretty long. depending on subject the length of the video can be acceptable.
To see if this is something your audience accepts, check in youtube studio the retention rate of your viewers.

The audio on of the locations has some background noise. perhaps a headset mic can solve this.

I actually think myself, like SILTHW, this could be 3 videos which brings more advantages than disadvantages:
- regular and frequent updates to YouTube (gets you more views and potentially subscribers)
- shorter video than current which can lead to higher retention rate

Overal I love the topic (I share cooking videos), I am not from your country but I like videos like these: the views and quick tours around are a great plus next to the food and your detailed comment on the food and see how it is in another place.
But the huge downside for me is, this is 24+ minutes. The editing looks great though.

Also for your new subscribers: your channel theme is still a bit confusing for me. what's it going to be about in the future? food, makeup? no clue but I am hoping food again since your last video even though experimental was a great food video (despite the length). Have a theme/certain subject for your channel to keep gaining subscribers.

Best of luck!

Hi there, here is my opinion about the video:

I think you should add some clips to represent the foods, the places that you will introduce later on in the video during your introduction instead only you talking. ItΓÇÖs quite boring if I just listen to you without seeing what food, what tour you are exploring.

Try to have a background to be more interesting. Audiences watch the video because of you, so they want to engage to your characters, your styles not just your picture.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback! I read somewhere in Reddit and watch some YouTube video saying that longer videos still do better than shorter videos even though some might watch it halfway because you gather more watch time. However my next foodie videos will be shorter hopefully as I won't do another 3 days food exploration.

Yup I agree my channel theme is confusing as there isn't any specific focus content for it. The reason why I doing this is because I want to see what type of video I make still able to gain view even as I stop producing video for like several weeks or a month. I wish I can interact with my subscribers somehow about what video I going to do next.

Yeah true. I mess a lot on that part. It not easy to do a consistent foodie video that will grab the audience attention. I been watching some videos of The Food Ranger and taking some hint on how he make a great foodie video. Hopefully I can make it better next time. Thanks for the feedback!
