So I am using a Tascam DR07 for my motovlog, I still struggle with getting the sound as clear as I can, I can't find any video's on this only about the DR05 yet the input level on my Mic is around 3 to 4 yet I still get a lot of feedback.

Any suggestions?

Feedback would indicate a mic positioning problem. Are you using the built-in mics or are you using an external? If external, what mic are you using?

I watched through a few of your videos and it sounds mostly like wind noise. You might also have the auto gain turned on and that could be causing the issue as well.

I will definitely look at auto gain. I think you are right its mostly wind noise.

I am using a purple panda mic so external. But that is some great information thank you. Slithw

Doing audio when there is a lotto noise is a bit of a challenge. There are things you can do to reduce the noise, but you won't be able to eliminate it. I used to use a Cardo comm system in my helmet. While the audio was very far from perfect, the positioning of the mic inside the helmet did a lot to improve audio and eliminated most wind noise. It feels like there may be a way to mount a mic inside the helmet that is more directional and reduces side noise better. I believe it is the Shure SM35 that @Pete A Turner uses that might work mounted in a helmet. He would know more about how it mounts/connects since he uses it.

The SM35 doesn't like to be too close to the mouth. It'll pick up breath noises...if it fits well in the helmet, it's not a bad option...it sits behind the head and rests on the right temple and left cheekbone...again this may not work with a helmet. Also, they are 150 dollars...you have to have the preamp to make it work...AND it requires phantom power. Maybe a smaller headset is the answer? When it doubt call Sweetwater...they are great at this.

Good to know. I have the purple panda that fits perfect for the helmet. But I need to get a chin curtain. Or I heard sena is pretty good also.

Don't overlook overdubbing. Basically taking what you recorded as audio and re-recording it in a quiet environment and replacing the audio track. Some combination of both techniques is what I see from a lot of videos recorded in high-noise environments.

Yes I watch a few now where people over dub. I don't know what it is but just never feels authentic. But might be work a try. Thanks mate
