Getting the odd dislike on videos does it hurt your channel alot? I am aware loads can lower your video in rankings.

YouTube Question How much do your dislikes hurt your channel?

It shows engagement. I've never seen anything from YouTube or on Creator Insider saying small numbers of dislikes hurt.
My guess is that it wont hurt, it's like a poll, and youtube saw it as an engagement, so it's "good" I guess !?!
analytically it means nothing, and you don't even see the like/dislike ratio until you actually click into the video as an audience member.
At a small scale you notice it more, but once you get quite a few views and likes per video, you won't even notice the dislikes. Most videos get 2-5 dislikes normally. You don't notice 2 dislikes when you have 20+ likes, but when you struggle to get 10 views and 2 likes, those 2 dislikes have a lot more of a phycological impact. Just know those 2 dislikes really mean nothing outside of a comment as well.
If you have some dislikes and no obvious trolls, ask yourself if your audio is clear enough, if your editing is clear enough, do you get to the point quickly enough? Some people (myself included) have disliked videos if the audio was horrible, or the video was intentionally misleading
As an "engagement" metric, I don't really think it matters for engagement either. The engagement that really matters are the comments.
Also, comments have a dislike button that has no number applied meaning the dislike button on comments is LITERALLY pointless. I treat the dislikes on a video in the same manner.

Right now a thumbs down is nothing but a positive act of engagement for your channel . It only serves to help.
Thumb's Down only begin to impact your video in a negative manner if there is an abnormal ration of dislikes to likes after thousands of engagements. When this occurs after a certain amount of time then YouTube downgrades the video in their Search and Discovery systems (the 'algorithm'). Until that point a like only acts as a very small flag to YouTube that this type of content is not something that this particular viewer is interested in watching. It will affect that persons recommendations slightly and nothing more.

Not when it's just one. Not when it's just ten. If you have 100 thumbs down maybe... but not if you have 1,000 thumb's up.
The purpose of dislikes isn't to flag bad videos. It's a flag to YouTube by the viewer saying 'hey, don't suggest videos like this to me.' So if someone dislikes a video they aren't hurting you. YouTube will simply recommend them different content. Because you caused engagement (which is valuable insight to YouTube) it is a positive thing for you.

But does mass dislikes really prevent a video from being pushed if the engagement is high? I mean, Logan Paul had a few of his videos trend when they were MASSIVELY disliked compared to liked. Unless the algorithm in terms of likes and dislikes changed?
I mean, pewdiepie's "make this the most disliked video" and "same likes as dislikes" were popular at the time (granted, they aren't recommended anymore, but this isn't 2018 and he's more popular for his Minecraft stuff now.

You bring up a heck of a point Beanie. The most disliked video of all time was the 2018 YouTube Rewind (do a search about this and notice that the measurement is dislike percentage, and not the total number of dislikes received). Now do a search for YouTube Rewind. Guess which vid ranks #1.
