Views - HOWEVER, what the YouTube algorithm really focuses on is click-through rate (CTR) aka the percentage of people who saw your thumbnail and clicked through & average watch percentage (AVP) aka the proportion of the video viewers watched. In an idealistic world, you'd have 100%, but that isn't really realistic so you should maximize those metrics - your video can have a million views but if people are dipping in 5 seconds of a 5-minute video, YouTube will stop promoting it as it's not keeping people on the platform/interesting enough to viewers

Technically views, because views lead to watch time, and it's watch time that the algorithm puts emphasis on. I've been investigating my own analytics here https://community.tubebuddy.com/index.php?threads/38034/ where I show evidence that the better your audience retention (which stems from views) the more you get recommended.

Subscribers mean litereally nothing except for milestones and unlocking things like custom url, community feed, and vanity play buttons.

Really very great and almost a very detailed explanation.
Along with views, the following things are also important:
1) Watch Time
2) Audience Retention
3) CTR
4) Engagement Signals
