Hi everyone, just wondering what kind of program you use for you audio? IΓÇÖm currently using audacity. But itΓÇÖs kind of confusing. I just noticed sometimes I tend to speak loud, and then quiet then loud again. Or I mumble. Should I maybe practice talking slower and at a better tone, or is there something I can do on a program. Note - I use my phone to record, and than put it on a program to edit out any static. Thank you.

You probably want to look at getting a standalone microphone and recording directly into audacity or OBS. That way you can add the correct compressors and filters to help record cleaner audio from the start. If you get good source audio then you'll need very little work on it after you have finished recording.

@EvaWar has good advice. There are certain defects that happen during recording that can't be fixed with any digital audio workstation. But let's answer your question.

Audacity is actually a very good program, but it is confusing because the interface looks like it was created in the 90s. You will have a hard time finding a free program that does as much as Audacity.

If you need an inexpensive, cross-platform tool, I would consider Reaper. It is $60 for a license and is a very capable program for the price.

If you are on a Mac or iPhone/iPad then go for Garage Band. It is free, has a great interface, lots of tutorials on how to use it and a very clean design. The nice thing about GarageBand is if you ever outgrow it, you can move to Logic which has more or less the same interface plus a lot more features.

If you have a license for Photoshop, you may have access to Audition. It is another full-featured program with a great interface and lots of tutorials, both in the app and on the internet.

All of this said, this is my actual recommendation. Learn to use the free version of Davinci Resolve. It includes Fairlight, a tool specifically built to work with audio in video. It is free, cross-platform and very capable. They also have free training and tutorials.

I use adobe audition love the full capabilities I get from it, and it does a great job in everything I need. Free wise audacity is really good for what you get :D

Yeah, I run Audacity. Since I came up in the 1990s, the interface is just like all the clunky operating systems and software of the time. These new fangled devices where you can't do anything but swipe a finger have very few options.

IΓÇÖve done a little more digging into audacity and IΓÇÖve seemed to make my most recent video a lot more clear audio wise.

My video editing software has an audio component (PowerDirector and AudioDirector). The package works together seamlessly, so I use it.

I use Logic Pro, but I've been using that in my studio for 12+ years now. I also use Audacity (well, used to - it doesn't work right on my new mac Mini) and WaveLab 10 Elements.
