where do I find key word explorer or anything else the YouTube tubby tutorials suggest to use this is my home page which has none of the suggested use icons

You need to install the tubebuddy plugin. https://www.tubebuddy.com/ (click the install free now) and then you go through to your YouTube Studio and it should show up (after you've installed it of course)

Ah, it actually embeds into YouTube Studio. If you go there you will see a TB icon at the top of the page. Clicking will show a menu and clicking that will show a bunch of choices including Keyword Explorer.

You will see the logo in several places and each of those has a menu for the actions related to that element.
