What is Click Magnet?
It is a suite of tools designed to help creators further understand what thumbnails and videos are working on your channel so you can create better content with more data from YouTube and us here at TubeBuddy. In this suite, there are four tools: Power Rankings, Element Inspectors, CTR Opportunities, and Advanced Analysis. WeΓÇÖll be going through an overview of all four, but weΓÇÖll have more in-depth videos on each part in the future.
Power Rankings gather the best performing videos on your channel based on three things: Views, watch time, and click-through rate (CTR). If your goal is to get more people to watch your videos, then it is wise to focus on creating content your audience craves. This tool is fashioned to guide you in determining whatΓÇÖs working for your videos, what could be improved, and where you should consider making more content.
Please note that these are ranked correspondingly to the videos on your channel, not anybody elseΓÇÖs channel.
When you click on Power Rankings, there will be a lot of data presented to you. This is why we have the legends on the left side that explain to you the metrics and where your video stands against your other videos. The strength column is only relative to the other videos within the list.
In the case of the TubeBuddy channel, the number six video on the list is within the 60th percentile for CTR but is within the 80th and 90th percentile for WT and clicks. This shows us that despite its high performing WT, the CTR could be improved.
Element Inspector dives deep into your thumbnails to help your resolve in what is actually making people click on your channel. Do people click because they see a face or no face? Or do they click because of the text or no text? By using AmazonΓÇÖs Image Rekognition API, Click Magnet is able to answer these questions.
In this example, we can see that long shot faces have a higher click-through rate than the medium shot faces. To see all of the videos with the long or medium shot, you can hover your mouse over the data and youΓÇÖll see a pop-up screen with the examples. Click on ΓÇÿView AllΓÇÖ and itΓÇÖll take you to the TubeBuddy website with all of the videos that match the long or medium shot.
Keep in mind that AmazonΓÇÖs Image Rekognition isnΓÇÖt always accurate, but it does a fantastic job!
CTR Opportunities provides you with a list of well-performing videos with a lackluster CTR. What good is having great content if nobodyΓÇÖs willing to click through your thumbnail? This is where CTR Opportunities come in!
On this page, youΓÇÖll see the video performance and CTR score on the second column. The performance is based on the watch time, impressions, and retention rate, etc. The metric is the same as the one in Power Rankings.
For this example, the TubeBuddy Tutorial videos are performing well, but their Thumbnails CTR could use some more TLC (tender, love, and care). This lets us know that we should consider changing the thumbnail and if we wanted, we could create an A/B test for this video with a click of a button.
Advanced Analytics allows users to group, sort, and filter data in ways that even YouTube doesnΓÇÖt provide. YouΓÇÖll be able to set the time frame, the traffic source (whether itΓÇÖs search, suggested, browse, or playlist), and the minimum impressions. Not only that, but youΓÇÖll also be able to export this data into CSV files to build your own report and analysis.
Note that Click Magnet is still in beta during this time. If you have any feedback on this feature, click on the ΓÇ£Submit FeedbackΓÇ¥ link at the bottom of the page.
Overall, Click Magnet is a powerful feature that can provide you with a better understanding of your thumbnails and whether a certain aspect of it works or not. It can also help you allocate the top ranking videos in order for you to let you determine what videos to craft next. We wanted to create more helpful tools that you can utilize to improve your content and feel more confident in understanding the data moving forward. Take your content and thumbnails from standard to Click Magnets!
Sincerely,
Ike, Andrew, & the TubeBuddy Team
