A competitor of mine keeps appearing as an option for my video tags. I know if it's considered ethical to use some of their tag names which appear as my tags. Is it a good idea, bad idea, or even frowned upon?

Not only is it against terms of service, but it harms your videos in more ways than one. If I used "jazza" (an art channel) as a keyword on my videos, and my video has nothing to do with jazza... IF someone watches my video and there's no mention of Jazza, they'll give me a dislike, probably leave some hate in my comments and report my video. So it's a very bad idea.
