Hi, everyone. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks. I have been developing a product for some time. I wanted to see if I can get a launch boost from youtubers? Iv seen youtubers mentioning products that got sent to them. Now I do believe in my product. How should I approach them? Is Payment involved? How does it work? Any advice would help thanks
It depends on what the product is. If it's a digital product, you're going to want to develop a relationship, and develop trust as there's been a lot of issues with "sponsorships" leading to hacked channels. The sad part about that is I KNOW there are genuine start ups looking to develop a relationship with creators, but because of some bad eggs, it makes developing trust more difficult.
If it's a PHYSICAL product, it's a little differant, but you still want to approach it carefully and respectfully. For example, Deity microphones, some phone case manufacturers and a new editing developer have been interacting in the twitter community, not fully promotional way, just discussing things. I do think Twitter would be a good way to start developing trust, as well as your channel. Eventually you'll start growing a small fanbase/community that you can start to leverage with sponsor partnerships. I knew a few creators now have partnered with small start ups simply because there was community interaction without any hard sales.
IF you can manage it, I'd also suggest (when Covid19 is OVER) to go to events, summits, things like vidcon, vidsummit etc where they sometimes have Industry showcases, so people from various industries get to show off their products, and develop relationships.
At the end of the day, I think the key is relationships. Payment is enticing, but before offering payments, or even sponsorship spots, you want to develop a relationship.
Have a look at the "Switch Pod" and watch how that product was developed and launched with influencers.
