Hi guys

What program/software would you recommend using to design my Youtube banner?

I currently use free trials of Adobe Spark to do my Thumbnails.

But not sure if Spark deals with the Banner size images.

I'm really looking for a free trial of something.

Cheers

Alex

I also use Photoshop, there is a free software called GIMP I believe that is pretty similar so you could try that!

Thanks. For some reason the image always seems to end up blurry after I've added text. (That's in Adobe Spark and Canva)

Is this a known problem and if so, any advice?

Cheers

Hmm sounds like something is going wrong somewhere (I've used Adobe Spark before without blurry text) Is the sizing correct that you have the file set to? Is it blurry when you export the file or save it, or is it just blurry when you're using it in YouTube?

HI,

I have been reading answers regarding this in various forum questions.

Many are suggesting Canva also. So, I tried it.

I did it as per the caption suggested by @Brave Starr in the bellow mentioned thread

you may use it or explore canvas more if you like it

I recently started using Affinity. It has some really great features, that my old version of Photoshop does not have (I have an antique Photoshop CS3). Although Affinity does a lot of things better, I find myself going back to CS3 because it is comfortable.

Hi

Wow thanks so much for the response, and for the kind offer, that's a great image. I actually made my banner yesterday (see attached). However, it ends up blurry when I upload the image to Youtube. I'm not sure what I need to do to amend.

Thanks

Alex

For "best" you really can't go past Photoshop.

I have found that a program called "affinity photo" and "affinity designer", both of which are on iOS AND computer, is very comparable in terms of menu layout and features, and costs significantly less at about $50-$100 depending on if you can take advantage of discounts.

Personally, for what I need, I wouldn't really use anything else, because I require things like text gradient, effects like drop shadow, line thickness adjust, drop shadow colour adjustments, levels, layed gradients, the ability to use 20+ layers, and most other programs simply don't have those features usually. Affinity designer and affinity photo are as close to Photoshop that I've found.

Thanks. For some reason the image always seems to end up blurry after I've added text. (That's in Adobe Spark and Canva)

Gimp is VERY well known, is open source and has been known in the design community for a decade or more. But I find it's kinda tricky to use. In terms of FREE software, I like canva, there's a program called "photopea" https://www.photopea.com/ which is a web based editor that not that many people know about, with a layout very similar to photoshop. I should try to use it more because I haven't really experienced it yet.

If you're using this for your channel header it's the wrong size.

Follow these requirements:

  • YouTubeΓÇÖs Recommended Banner Size is 2,560 x 1,440 pixels
  • Minimum image dimensions: 2,048 x 1,152 pixels
  • Minimum image safe area for text and logos: 1,546 x 423 pixels
  • Maximum image width: 2,560 x 423 pixels
  • File size limit: 6MB

Hi

Yes I am aware of the required size, I just uploaded that image to show the original I had made in Spark. I then resisze it online.

Thanks for providing the other ones though, very useful

Sorry for the misunderstanding!

No it's cool. Sorry I realise that my response sounded snappy and ungrateful, it genuinely wasn't meant to.

I just couldn't think of another way to say "Yes I am aware of the sizes" lol.

Like I said I appreciate you providing all the correct sizes.

It's weird, I created the attached image in Adobe Spark, then resize it, but for some reason it always ends up blurred when I add it to Youtube.

Hmmmm

PhotoscapeX is also a great app. The basic free package has a ton of presets and has some deeper editing functionality as well.

But I also use GIMP. And again, these are available on all OS.

in addition, you can get a drawing tablet like XP-PEN ( https://www.xp-pen.com ), it 's better than using a mouse or trackpad to edit photos. For slider adjustments, spot, brush edits it's pretty good.

My main tool is photoshop, and I think itΓÇÖs used in most cases for such things. I use it to design not only YouTube banners but also banners for popups and other ads. And this job is really required because websites and content makers need Banner resources to promote their services and their personal brand. It helps them to attract peopleΓÇÖs attention to the page's contents more and maybe encourage them to buy more from them. ItΓÇÖs the strategy used by online shops that make so-called ΓÇ£cart abandonmentΓÇ¥ popups appear when a person wants to leave the website without buying anything.
