I'd say figure out what the instrumental is. I usually see people post stock images, which is fine imo.

Search for similar videos to yours, and make yours standout from the rest.

I think the best way would be to show the instrument being played, but that alone might not be enough, so search other high performing instrumental videos and see what they're doing. It's always good to study other thumbnails in your field to know what's kind of expected, then visually experiment to make yours different enough to stand out.
