Title of thread: Testing the use of music and longer intro, does it put you off, or make you watch?
Self review: Hi there, in my previous post I explain that I usually go straight into the content of my 'how to' video's to keep the viewer engage, however I thought I would test the water with some editing and use of music to forma longer intro. What do you think overall, is the video still engaging to you, is the music okay?

Hello GrooveOn,

Hope you are well. I have just watch the video you posted. I think the overall video is really good, particularly at the explanations of every aspect of the car. This is something I would do myself if I were an expert in cars like I do with my programming videos. The only downside to this video is I would make the introduction shorter. I think an introduction that is more than 2 minutes is too long so I would make introductions short and snappy.

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Hi and thanks for the feedback, I am glad you said about shortening the start, as I normaly get straight into the video. However on this occasion with the snow etc it was more of a film look than just a how to video. Interestingly I got some great analytics and video retention on it with above average figures and a great engagement length of 4mins 30secs average view or 39%

First, the music made the intro. I started to lose interest until you got into the wrong side of the car and I thought, "What's this, then?" Not US, hmmmm. Yes, he is driving on wrong side of road too. So I kept watching. Going to the mountains...why? To bury a body? Visit a cool mountain cabin? Had to find out. However, once I realized it's a auto how-to, I was out. I'm not your audience ‍️. But, you had me for a good while! Your explaination and description was clear and precise. And quality of video and audio is lovely. Just some food for thought, anytime it is THAT quiet in the countryside, it's not a good sign. Stay aware of your surroundings. The prey animals (birds, squirrels, etc.) are staying quiet for a reason.

Thanks for your feedback, its interesting that you think the steering wheel is on the wrong side, ha! 60% countries in the world are right hand drive did you know ! Also not sure about being quiet in the country, this is Scotland not America, we don't have anything to be worried about big or small!

Hi Grooveon,
I clicked off before 2 minute mark. I loved the music but I kept wondering what is a wind deflector? My Mazda MX5 has that fin on the back is that what a wind deflector is? I like tell me what we're going to learn about and jump right in or dangle something coming up for a few seconds. The footage is great though.

Thanks for the info, the wind deflector would have made sense if you watched just another 60 secs. I usually get straight into my how to videos as I agree people just want the info, like the video below as an example on how to fix the heat in the car.
