Video Research I made this mistake on YouTube… Don’t repeat it.

So I had a good going channel and due to my actions I have possibly killed it…

I have had few channels in my life and a 100k Follower TikTok account, so I would say I know a little bit about algorithms and how these platforms work, but I made a mistake that I researched and confirmed it..

Long story short I watched my own videos…
I had a really good performing channel but I believed that if I watch the video after posting it and following it though my other account it would increase the exposure, but it ended up back firing and we will see how it all folds out in future.
I had long form videos performing around 20-50 views and shorts performing over 1.2k views on first day, and I tended to watch my own video to try to push it out even more.

Then 3 days after starting I had 2x shorts with 1.2k views 1x 1.5k and 1x 2k views.
All posted on different times.
Then I made another one and it got 0 views in 4 hours… So I gave it 5-6hours before deleting as it still had 0 and edited it to be shorter and changed SEO to 100% and changed tags. Still got 0 watches it again and asked my girl to try to find it and watch it. So she did. And video had around 5-7 views.

Then I thought ok itΓÇÖs a flop video.. letΓÇÖs create another one, I found good keywords for it and posted it, made it short quick and good.
What followed was 0 views again, and 1 from watching it my self.

I knew something is wrong and started to dig deeper and found out that you should give your shorts some time , which is fine but usually you could see some views gained in first hour even less

So I looked more and more and found out that YouTube does freeze your videos to evaluate them and one of the things they evaluate is - to see if your creating something known as ΓÇ£ fake interactionsΓÇ¥ or ΓÇ£artificiallyΓÇ¥ interacting with your videos which include - watching your own videos and interacting with them to make it seem as itΓÇÖs doing better.

So why I think is I been caught doing it and they have stoped my exposure, I seen so many videos and posts saying you should watch your own videos though different browsers etc, IM TELLING YOU DONT! ItΓÇÖs not worth it! Instead of getting thousands of REAL views you will get your 2-6 fake views or comments..

I do not know how it all will end up playing out and or if I should start fresh account, hopefully not and I do hope it wonΓÇÖt effect my channel for long, as technically YouTube will remove the views and watch time but not sure how the exposure will be.

So so not listen to what these ΓÇ£ YouTube specialistsΓÇ¥ say on different platforms and forums. I figured it out and letΓÇÖs hope for the best.

I made a mistake and IΓÇÖm not scared to admit it and warn you.

If anyone on here is more experienced and does know how long such problems last or should I start fresh or continue, please let me know

I don't get it...how many times were you watching your own videos? We ALL watch our own videos, but to watch them so many times to flag as manipulation... that would have to be what...50, 100, 500 views? I routinely watch all of my videos probably 10 times before they are live, on various devices as well. TVs, tablets, phones, PCs.

Honestly, I think you're just experiencing what we all experience with new channels, riding that view roller coaster. You only have 13 videos, I wouldn't even be concerned with views until you have a lot more content.

Honestly, I think you're just experiencing what we all experience with new channels, riding that view roller coaster. You only have 13 videos, I wouldn't even be concerned with views until you have a lot more content.

May I ask where you are getting your information in making this determination that YT to freeze your videos? That is a big accusation to make. Or is this your conclusion?

And regarding your comments about people saying to watch your own videos, I have not seen a single credible YT education that espouses to watch your own videos repeatedly to increase the views. How does watching your video 10 times actually translate to anything sustainable or meaningful?

Honestly, there are simply bad performing shorts regardless of watching your own videos or not.

13 videos and the channel was started less than a week ago???? The guy just started and already making wild speculations.

I appreciate the screenshots. That is helpful. The reason why I sometimes challenge people's claims because all sorts of people come through these forums and make all kinds of claims. Given that your current YT channel is barely a week old, I wanted to dig in further and you responded which is great.

In any case, the whole notion of watching your own videos to rack up views feels icky to me (whether it works or not) just like "sub4sub" is. It is good you are warning others but to me this is a case of warning people to stop doing things they should not have done to begin with.

Watching your own video does not benefit my in any way shape or form.
What I done same as with my 100k TikTok account I watched the video fully, left a pin comment for people to reply to and sometimes liked the video. It used to work and push out the video slightly, then i would ask my fiancé to try to find it and watch in fully and sometimes to engage if she wished to.

Ok you TB and VidIQ never have said anything like that but there is thousands of other people that give advice about YouTube, same as about finance but most of them are just BS to attract views and majority don't even know what their talking about. I fell for misinformation and noticed changes.

Have not watched anywhere close to 50, maybe 20 at max, though same laptop, 2 phone and tv.

The only way I could see that potentially causing any concern is if you watched it 20 times right after the video is made public.

They're talking about artificial views from bots, paid for views, etc. There are paid services with 1000s of gmail accounts and for X amount of money you can pay for their bots to view a video.

I didn't see you were only a week in. lol.. That's WAY too soon to let YouTube get all in your head.

You need to get 100 to 200 videos out before you start worrying about views.
