I have done several Instagram Reels, but never done a Youtube Short. Which one do you feel can increase your growth on YT? Or is each to there own and Reels will grow Insta and Shorts YT?

Creators can stop and start recording videos with a tap. While videos uploaded to YouTube Shorts can be up to 60 seconds, short videos recorded on the YouTube app itself can only be a maximum of 15 seconds, whereas Instagram Reels feature a maximum video length of 30 seconds for both recorded and uploaded videos

The YouTube app is perfect for recording short, quick videos. You can make up to 60 second clips that are easy enough with just one tap on your phone screen! But if you want something longer than 15 seconds or Uploaded content onto Google's site then don't worry because Instagram Reels allow both types of recordings at 30-second maximums

Not sure if this is possible but I want to disable YouTube shorts and Instagram reels. Instagram I use to message people from time to time (I can’t avoid it) and obviously YouTube for learning stuff. I want to be able to open these apps without addicting/distracting 30-sec videos.. You might say “get discipline” but my dopamine-fiend brain doesn’t comply. I’ll find myself mindlessly scrolling for 20-30 min and It’s honestly depressing. Nothing good comes from these short videos.. A solution for iPhone would be great.

You know what? If you make any reel, post it on all platforms. You will get noticed in one of those platforms. Then try to direct your followers towards YouTube. In all the ways, you are getting the promotion. Hence, YouTube growth.

You should try both the platforms. After posting several reels and YT shorts, just analyse results of both platforms. Social media platform selection is based on your product/service/content. So choose accordingly. Good luck!

Exactly my thinking. And add TikTok to the list while you're at it.
