I posted a new board request in "Feature Requests" and @Beanie Draws pointed out that there is no reason we can't do it here in the "Gear Discussions" board. Sounds like fun! Here's my studio built up over the last year or so:
  • Camera (multiple allowed): 2x Sony A6400, 2x Sony A6000
  • Lens (n/a or multiple allowed): Sony 16-55mm f2.8 GMaster (best), Sigma 16mm f1.4 (best), Sigma 30mm f1.4 (meh), Sony Kit Lens 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 (ok)
  • Microphone (built-in, or multiple allowed): Deity VMic D3 Pro (great first mic!), Shure SM7B for voiceover
  • Audio Mixer/Recorder: Rodecaster Pro
  • Tripod or other camera mount: Cheap best buy special (not recommended, but gets the job done for now)
  • Lights: Godox FL60, FL150R, VL150 (Using all same brand = 1 remote to rule them all)
  • Stands, extenders, booms: Mostly B&H "Impact" Brand - their in-house knock off of Manfrotto like products.
  • Editing software: Davinci Resolve
  • Thumbnail creator: PowerPoint! Ha, ha, gotta start somewhere.
  • End screen creator: YouTube Studio
  • Other recommendations (no affiliate links): I also have a "Black Magic Atem Mini Pro ISO" which can record 4 camera angles at once, with camera audio plus 2 more audio sources to an SSD. It automatically sync's all the sources with Timecode and outputs a Davinci Resolve project file ready for editing! It also supports camera control for Black Magic Cameras (So if you have BMPCC6k camera like @SILTHW, it can control the camera including tell the camera to record BRAW 4k while it records a lower quality fullhd on the local SSD). If your videos are primarily recorded in a fixed studio environment, then you should checkout the Atem Mini Pro ISO as a possible tool.
I also use my equipment for work presentations post-covid, so I've had some of this longer than I've actually been posting YouTube vids.

I actually have the ATEM Mini Pro, non ISO version. In the end, I use it less that I thought I would, but think it has great price/performance. If only they would do a version that is 4k with the same form factor.

It integrates with the black magic cameras, so it will tell your BMPCC6k to record 4k in camera. Then you can substitute the 4k footage from the camera in the davinci project super easily and it all syncs up with timecode. Of course its not required, but I personally find it handy.

And yes, fingers crossed, a 4k version may be in the next few years if I were to guess! But not a lot of small creators are doing full 4k production yet, even more so 4k live streaming.

  • Tripod or other camera mount: onn. Flexible 12" Tripods for each cam & 2 light panels, onn. 67" Tripods for other 2 light panels
  • Lights: VILTROX VL-200T x4
  • Stands, extenders, booms: 2 generic cheap boom arms (no clue how or where we got them)
  • Editing software: Shotcut
  • Audio software: Audacity (on the desktop), Garageband (on the mac)
  • Thumbnail creator: Canva
  • Banner creator: Canva
  • Other recommendations: Streamlabs OBS for overlays and multistream, Anchor for podcast syndication, Google sheets/docs for planning
  • Computers:
    • Laptop: MacBook Pro 13"
    • Desktop: Custom-built - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB, 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB), 512GB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD
We run all the streaming (cams, mics, Streamlabs, etc.) through the desktop. It's not the most powerful, but it gets the job done as long as we don't try to stream anything over 1080p. We typically do any editing afterward (audio/video) on the MacBook.
