Last year, I would say it depends on the game. If it has a lot of things going on, then it doesn't need facecam. If it's something like a visual novel or something, I'd like a face. Nowadays, I don't really care lol. As long as you have a facecam that doesn't obscure the gameplay or block something important, I don't care. It does help with reactions and I enjoy them.
Depends the game like @Ikerot said! If it's a story experience, face-cam can help A LOT! I don't use a camera on my gaming channel, but have been asked to. I just need a better web cam (C922) So I can get 60FPS
